The Coast Guard vessel Hiram as she appeared in 1946 in Alaska. During World War II the Hiram was used by the Navy and operated with a crew of 13 men under the command of a lieutenant. At the conclusion of World War II the vessel was turned over to the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard operated the boat with a crew of five with a 1st Class Boatswain’s Mate as its captain.
