Above: Barney Crockett Thomas served at the Great Wicomico Lighthouse from 1925 to 1926. Built in 1889 the lighthouse stood at the mouth of the Great Wicomico River south of the Potomac River on the western side of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. The lighthouse was deactivated in 1967 and demolished. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
