Photo Caption:

The lighthouse keeper’s family and others climbing up the ladder on Motion Island, where the lighthouse is, to the top of what was called “Wedge Rock.” They may have been on their way to a picnic, which was a favorite family outing. They may have also been on their way to church. Once at the top of Wedge Rock, they still had a two hour climb and walk to the church in Deer Harbour.
