In 1938 when the Inner Range Lighthouse was demolished, the Outer Range Lighthouse was lifted off the pier and apparently put on a barge to be demolished or moved to be reused elsewhere. Some reports indicate that it was partially rebuilt by enclosing it in steel plates with porthole windows. The old wooden walkway to the lighthouse was also demolished at that time.
