In 1981 the Coast Guard burned the keeper’s house at Boon Island Lighthouse. Today, only the neglected lighthouse and one small out-building remain standing at this once proud lighthouse where families once lived in hardship, witnessing tragedy all with love, laughter, and dedication for the benefit of the mariner at sea.
