United States Mint Director Henrietta Holsman Fore being interviewed by a Maine TV station on the rocks at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse takes a moment to wave to our camera. She explained to those in attendance that the Maine quarter is the 23rd state quarter of the 50 to be issued and it is the last of the New England quarters. She went on to say, “As Americans enjoy their summer vacations, they will be buying ice cream cones with quarters featuring one of the picturesque lighthouses they love to visit.” She also went on to say that the U. S. Mint will only mint the quarter for 10 weeks and they will never be minted again.
