In what is probably one of the biggest rebuilding success stories in lighthouse history Florida's rebuilt Cape St. George Lighthouse has opened to the public for limited hours Mondays, Tuesdays and weekends.
After suffering from years of erosion, the lighthouse collapsed into the Gulf of Mexico in October 2005. The bricks were saved and transported to a new location where a volunteer movement rebuilt the historic lighthouse.
