No, the real lighthouse is not for sale. However, thanks to the Harbour Lights line of replicas, you can now own a slice of history with a miniaturized version of the famous Michigan beacon that was built in 1931 one mile offshore at the far eastern end of the Upper Peninsula.
This replica looks so real, you’ll think you’re looking at the real lighthouse, which is now cared for by the DeTour Reef Light Preservation Society. Money raised from the sale of these three inch high miniature lighthouse replicas will be used for the ongoing restoration and preservation of the real 83-foot tall lighthouse that is surrounded by water.
Reasonably priced at only $17.50 plus $5.00 shipping they can be ordered on line at www.DELPS.com and then click on Store. Or, you can mail a check to them at P.O. Box 307, Drummond
Island, MI 49726. While you’re visiting their web site you might want to check out their Keeper program.
