The General Services Administration has declared New York’s Huntington Harbor Lighthouse as excess property under the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act.
The lighthouse, built in 1857, is now under the loving care of the Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society which was formerly known as Save Huntington’s Lighthouse. It is most likely that the government will award ownership to them. The restoration at Huntington Harbor Lighthouse can only be described as outstanding! After all of their years of dedication and hard work, they deserve ownership.
To learn more or make a donation for the ongoing restoration of the Huntington Harbor Lighthouse you can visit their web site at www.HuntingtonHarborLighthouse.org or by mail at P.O. Box 2454, Halesite, NY 11743. They are also on Facebook.
