This dramatic photograph shows the new guided missile destroyer USS Jason Dunham sailing past Maine’s Doubling Point Lighthouse on the Kennebec River near the City of Bath, which is known as the “City of Ships.”
The USS Jason Dunham is named after the late Cpl. Jason L. Dunham, the first marine awarded the Medal of Honor for Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 1998, under the Maine Lights Program, ownership of the Doubling Point Lighthouse was transferred to the Friends of Doubling Point Light.
