For approximately 20 years Charles H. Vinson ...

Born on December 18, 1872 in Baltimore, Maryland, Charles H. Vinson spent 20 years working for the U.S. Lighthouse Service. According to records, he served for at least 20 years as a lighthouse machinist, mechanic, and lamp inspector out of Baltimore. In documents, he was often referred to as “Vins.”

In searching for photos of him so that we could publish and save them for future generations, we were unable to locate any. In 1940, he and his sister were residents of Miami, Florida and apparently neither of them ever married. We were unable to locate any family trees on him or his family.

This story appeared in the May/Jun 2017 edition of Lighthouse Digest Magazine. The print edition contains more stories than our internet edition, and each story generally contains more photographs - often many more - in the print edition.
