Michigan’s Charity Island Lighthouse has been on our Doomsday List of Endangered lighthouses ever since the list began. A new agreement, years in the making, between the Arenac County Historical Society and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service may save the lighthouse. But, it will probably be too late to save the keepers house which is already falling down, but the tower can still be saved. However, the historical society must raise $10,000 to cover the cost of applying for the necessary grant money. If you would like to help, donations can be sent to:
Charity Island Preservation Comm.
PO Box 272, 304 E. Michigan Ave.
Au Gres, MI 48703
Without the seed money the lighthouse will have no chance.
Only you can help.
