Notes: R. Drake writes: "My mom used to go the Pla-Port resort as a girl in the 1930s. It was one of the first resorts built on the Lake of the Ozarks. There was a store in the bottom part of the lighthouse. We were in the Ozarks in 1998; the resort and lighthouse are long gone." H. Ungerman writes: "Our family spent several vacations in the lighthouse at Pla-Port during the early and mid-fifties. During that period it was operating and was turned on each night. Jumping or diving off the rocks at the foot of the lighthouse was a thrill. During that time the lighthouse had three apartments; the first two floors were expanded and stone covered. However, inside you could see the original tapered construction. There was a fantastic view of the grand glaise arm and bridge from the kitchen. I last looked for the lighthouse in 1969. The entire area on which Pla-port and two or three other small resorts were built had been demolished, and a new, much larger, resort had been constructed."
