Date Established: 1876

Date Present Tower Built: 1926

Optics: 1876: Revolving second-order Fresnel lens. 1926: automatic acetylene-powered, 800mm Fresnel drum lens (now at Westport Coal Museum). Now Vega 250 flashing beacon mounted on the gallery.

Current Use: Active aid to navigation.

Open To Public? Grounds only.

Directions:
The lighthouse is near the end of NZ Route 67A and can be reached by walking about 1/2 mile from a parking area.
