Due to erosion of the cliff face from under it, the Willapa Bay Lighthouse met its demise at Christmastime in December of 1940. This is one of the last photos ever taken of it, precariously perched on the cliff’s edge, just waiting for one last gust of wind before it became a lost lighthouse, having literally succumbed to the sands of time.
