Look closely at the base of the Shinnecock Bay Lighthouse. In preparation for the demolition of the tower, it took a crew of seven men working for two weeks to cut through the thick brick walls. They cut a hole six feet high and 40 feet around the south side of the circumference of the tower and shored up the tower with 10 foot timbers while they were doing their work.
