The Nottingham Galley was shipwrecked on Boon Island many years before the first lighthouse was built here in 1799. Shown here from a historic image is the 5th tower to be built here. It was completed in 1852 and the 133-foot tall tower still stands today. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
