This is the Siebens Memorial Lighthouse on the ...

This is the Siebens Memorial Lighthouse on the shore of Storm Lake in northwestern Iowa. Although it is not a functioning lighthouse in the true sense, it does have a rotating beacon and was built for an exact reason. May all of us appreciate the plaque on the lighthouse which reads as follows:

In Memoriam

Harold Walter Siebens

1905-1989

Light brings hope to the world,

It clarifies, generates, sustains, and inspires.

Light can come from many sources,

But few can have a more positive influence

Than guiding lights.

Harold Siebens,

Patriarch, entrepreneur, sportsman, benefactor,

Was a guiding light to his family and friends

As well as to countless others

Who have benefitted from his generosity.

In his memory, his family dedicates

This lighthouse on Storm Lake to

The people, the values and the town

Which were his guiding lights,

And to the Institutions he supported,

With the hope that it will be a reminder

That each of us must be a source of light to others.

Thanks to Bruce Moe of Davenport, Iowa who sent us the photo and information on the Siebens Memorial Lighthouse.
