Signaling safe passage
The beacon shines brightly across the water.
The sentinel stands guard
As nature’s furies descend upon her,
Contemplating destruction.
She does not weaken.
Snow and sleet engulf her,
Ice clings on windows and railings.
A rainbow of color shines in the sun.
Waves pound endlessly
With frothy rage,
And show no mercy.
Throughout the days and nights
The light remains constant.
The message is clear:
I will lead you to safe harbor,
And guide you.
Follow me.
Standing in her presence,
We are awed by legend and mystique,
Mesmerized by her beauty.
To be a lighthouse
Is to be a guardian Angel.
When all else fails . . . she prevails.
