In 2004, this lighthouse was made available under the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000. There were no suitable applicants, so it was sold by sealed bid. Ownership was transferred to the high bidder, Beacon Preservation, Inc., in November 2006. Goose Rocks Light can be seen from Calderwood Point on Vinalhaven, but it is best seen by boat.
