Notes:
There have been three lighthouses on Pictou Island, located about 7.5 miles offshore. The West End Light is now a skeleton structure.

Tower Height: 23

Height of Focal Plane: 46

Characteristic and Range: White flash every 4 seconds, visible for 6 nautical miles.

Description of Tower: Red skeleton tower with red and white rectangular daymarks.

1905: White, octagonal wooden tower with a red, octagonal iron lantern; dwelling nearby (destroyed).

Date Established: 1905

Date Present Tower Built: 1965

Current Use: Active aid to navigation.

Directions:
The island can be reached by ferry (pedestrians only) from Caribou Ferry on the Nova Scotia mainland.
