The uninhabited Formigas are two low-lying islands located about 23 miles (37 kilometers) northeast of Santa Maria Island. They have been declared a nature reserve. Tower Height: 62 Height of Focal Plane: 72 Characteristic and Range: Two white flashes every 12 seconds, visible for 9 miles. Description of Tower: Conical masonry tower.
