This lighthouse was built by Tampa Bay Watch, a nonprofit organization the marine and wetlands enviroments of the Tampa Bay estuary. The lighthouse was built to resemble the Boca Grande Lighthouse, and it also serves as a marine center and educational facility.

Directions:
From Tampa, take I-275 South toward St. Petersburg. Get off at Exit 17, Pinellas Bayway S. SR 682 (toll). Take a left at the junction of SR 679 and follow the signs to Fort De Soto Park. The lighthouse is located at 3000 Pinellas Bayway S., just before the toll to enter the park.
